HOW-TO: Connecting a Samsung SmartCam to KodiRepeating an already-posted work-through, I apologize in advance as I didn't have the patience to read every single post on the subject. I found a few threads on the subject, but most deal with non-IP cameras, involve 3rd party programs to make it work, or are 5 years old and have no resolution. I'm also probably posting this in the wrong forum. If so, please move it to the correct one .Thank you..I have 2 Samsung SmartCams, an indoor model SNH-P6410BN and an outdoor model SNH-E6440BN. Both are IP based cameras, offer 1080P resolution, Micro SD + online storage and WiFi + Ethernet connectivity .To view the cameras, however, you'll need to log into Samsung's "samsungsmartcam" website, which isn't too handy if you want to quickly see who's banging on your front door, or in yours, early on a Sunday morning Driveway horn was found while searching to connect the cameras to the third party program "ISpy". Credit goes to the author "paulostuff" of the following ISpy forum thread:

All I did was customize it to work with Kodi. First find out the IP address of your camera(s). You can easily find this using your home router, the samsungsmartcam website or by double-clicking "Network" or "My Network" on your Windows PC. It is best to Assign static IPs to your camera(s) so that you don't have to change your settings if your router decides to distribute new IPs to your network devices. Next, substitute your IP address and password in the stream below. For the password; This is the password you assign to the camera on the Samsung website samsungsmartcam.com. It is NOT the password you use to log on access the site, but the password you use to view each camera once logged into the site. Leave "admin" as is, do not substitute your username.rtsp://admin:

[email protected]

/profile5/media.smp To verify that this works, plug this entire string into a media player that plays "rtsp" urls, such as B. VLC or Daum PotPlayer (there are many others). It usually takes less than 10 seconds for the feed to appear on your screen. If it does, you're good to go. If not, troubleshoot to to make sure your IP address and password are correct. I didn't have to port anything to my router or make any other changes to my network for this to work. Note the "Profile" in the string above. The Samsung SmartCams have 6 different profiles named profile1 through profile6. I've listed the resolution and frames per second below as reported in PotPlayer's file information playing all 6 streams. If you have problems try a lower resolution and frame rate. Both of mine play "profile5" well and I use WiFi to connect to both cameras : 640x360 (19-21 FPS)profile4: 1280x720 (14-16 FPSprofile5: 1920x1080 (23-25 FPS) - Bestprofile6: 640x360 (19-21 FPS)Next create a new file with Notepad++, Notepad or similar Text editor with ".strm" file extension, name it what you want. If you have multiple cameras, you can create one file per camera, or put multiple cameras in one file on individual lines. I prefer 1 file per camera, as this can be done with en r Playing back the camera feeds 1 click less is 2 cameras, so I named them "Indoor Cam.strm" and "Outdoor Cam.strm". Genius, huh? Copy and paste or type the full rtsp url into the file as shown above. Save and close the file In Kodi, place the .strm file(s) in a new or existing folder with your other media that you are viewing with Kodi. I created a new folder just for my 2 files called "Cameras". Open Kodi, go to Videos --> Files --> Add Videos and navigate to the folder where you placed the .strm file(s). Click "OK", don't assign any scrapers to it and click all the "OK" buttons until you get back to Video Files. That's it, you should be able to click on the new entry in the Videos files pane and see the .strm file(s) you just added. Click on the file and in a few seconds the video should be on your screen. To close it, click the "Stop" button. I saved my folder as "Favorite/Favourite" and then created a new menu item for it with the Amber skin. This way I have quick access to it without having to dig into video submenus. Also, the site below lists the rtsp settings for a ton of other IP camera brands, so I'm sure most can be easily adjusted for most brand IP cameras in this guide.
